The schedule of China's Work Permit & Expert Permit Reform
The reform was initiated in Oct 2016 among Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Hebei Provice, Anhui Province, Shandong Province, Guangdong Province, Sichuan provice and the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. According to local newspapers, Hebei province issued its 1st Work Permit to a South Korean on 7th Nov 2016; Sichuan provice issued its 1st Working Permit to an American who own several companies in Chengdu on 8th Nov 2016.
The new system is set to be online on 1st Apr 2017 nationalwide. From then, there will be no more Foreign Expert Permit in China.
The classification standards of new China Work Permit
To standardize the management of China Work Permit and to attract quality talents, China is going to release a new work permit system which classified the applcants by the below score-based table. The new policy will not affect expats who already work in China - but from their next extension will be on the new system.
- Class A: High Level Talents Scores ＞85
- Class B: CommonTalents Scores 60-85
- Class C: Common Applicants Scores ＜60
