On Sept. 5, 2003, Beijing passed the overall regulation on dog breeding. The rule, which took effect on Oct. 15 that year, stipulated among other things that “large and vicious dogs” were not allowed in “key management areas” in Beijing. The rule defined those areas — Dongcheng District, Xicheng District, Haidian District, Fengtai District, Shijingshan District, Chaoyang District — but not the dog breeds.

On Oct. 13, 2003, two days before the rule was set to take effect, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture, the authority in charge of husbandry and veterinary affairs, issued the definitive explanation notice on the banned breeds. “In key management areas, vicious dogs as well as dogs of maturity height over 35 centimeters are not allowed,” the announcement said. The notice excluded guide dogs for the blind and other similar helper dogs from the height restriction. The notice listed the following dogs as examples of those that were banned:

On Feb 23, 2011, Shanghai passed the overall regulation on dog breeding. The rule, which took effect on May 5th 2011. This regulation applied in Huangpu District, Xuhui District, Changning Ditrict, Yangpu District, Hongkou District, Putuo District, Jingan District, Pudong District, Baoshan District, Jiading District, Qingpu District, Songjiang District, Minhang District, Fenxian District, Jinshan District, Lingang District, Chongming District.

You have to get the consent of the taxi driver before you take your dog into Taxi, according to this regulation.

On Apr 18th, 2006, Shenzhen passed the overall regulation on dog breeding. The rule took effect on Jul 1st, 2006.

This regulation forbids dog owner to bring dogs to the following public areas:

  1. Bus, Subway.
  2. Government Buildings, Hospitals, Schools, Kindergartens.
  3. Theaters, Museum, Exhibitions, Dancing Halls, Stadiums, Amusement Park.
  4. Parks, Airports, Train Stations.

On Jan 16th, 2009, Guangzhou passed the overall regulation on dog breeding. The rule took effect on Jul 1st 2009.

One dog per househeld address.

The dogs have to be vaccinated and licensed once reach 3 months old.

If you do not follow the regulation, you will face fine upto 2000 CNY.
